Fernando Alonso finishes seventh in Shanghai
The Spanish driver crossed the line in the Chinese Grand Prix in seventh place.
Alonso now looks forward to a new phase with plenty of drive and enthusiasm.
Fernando Alonso finished the Chinese Grand Prix in seventh place after
a difficult race in which degradation of the Pirelli tyres was the key factor.
Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber took the first three places
at the end of a Grand Prix which Fernando Alonso began with a poor start.
There was a fine tussle between Alonso and the 'Kaiser',
with the Spaniard coming out on top in the end:
he executed a ruthless manoeuvre coming out of a turn
to overtake the Mercedes and claim third.
Fernando Alonso began to have serious problems with tyre degradation
and found himself overtaken first by Rosberg and then Button.
Facing the dilemma of whether to stick to the two-stop strategy or not,
the Spaniard was also overtaken by Hamilton. Alonso,
who was losing up to seven seconds per lap,
decided to pit and switched to hard tyres.
Alonso left the pitlane in tenth place and
soon overtook Sergio Pérez to move up into ninth.
The Spanish driver ended the race in seventh,
with his batteries fully charged for the next phase
of European Grands Prix is which is about to begin.
Alonso: “We have to improve the car”
“There was no particular problem. We were not going
fast any time in the race and we were losing ground,
” Alonso said after the race.
When questioned about the race strategy he commented:
“we opted for two stops. There were times when we seemed to
be going all right, and others when our rivals were flying past.
It was a question of trying to finish”.
“It's very easy to come up with a strategy when you're the fastest,
as with Webber. Three stops look right now, but I don't think
that would have helped us much.
The problem was that we weren't fast enough,” he stated.
The two-time world champion will now be focusing on the next race.
Formula 1 leaves Asia and returns to Europe,
with the next race in Turkey on May 8.
A break which Ferrari will use to make up lost ground:
“more than anything, we have to improve the car”.

バッテリーを完全に受電した。
アロンソはレース後に、こうコメントしている：「我々はさらに上を目指さなければならない」
「特に大きな問題はなかった。ただ我々はレースの中でいつでも早く走れているわけではなかったし、
グラウンドで負けている。」
そしてレース戦略についての質問に彼はこう答えている：
「我々はツーストップ戦略を選択した。
我々が問題ないと判断した時にはまだ残り時間があった。
だがその一方で、他のライバル達に追い抜かれていた。
そのままフィニッシュすべきか疑問があった。」
「ウェーバーと同じように、ファステストを出しているときに戦略を考えだすのはとても簡単だ。
スリーストップが正しいように思う。しかし、それが私たちの場合に、十分に効果があっただろうとは
私は思わない。問題は我々が十分に早くないことにある。」
彼ははっきりと述べた。
2度、世界チャンピオンになったアロンソは、今、次のレースへ焦点を合わせているだろう。
F1はアジアシリーズを終え、ヨーロッパシリーズに入る。
そして次のレースは5月8日にトルコで開催される。
フェラーリが失った立場を取り戻すための分岐点だ。
